If you have an infection, you may also experience vaginal soreness, rashes in the genital area, pain in the abdomen, burning during urination, discomfort during intercourse, and bleeding in rare cases.

A vaginal yeast infection is usually treated with an application of a vaginal antifungal cream, taking tablet, or suppository for days. Oral treatment is the recommended procedure if your yeast infection keeps on coming back.

The reason for this is because oral medication affects the entire body. A vaginal treatment on the other hand can only work on the genital area. A vaginal treatment for yeast infection may not cause side effects. But oral medication may cause headache, nausea, or abdominal pain.

A vaginal boric acid can be used in treating yeast infections. Nonprescription vaginal medications are also available. It is possible to treat your own infection. But you have to be sure that you are not pregnant and be very certain that the symptoms that you?re experiencing are like the ones you experienced before. You would have to consult a physician in case your infection keeps on recurring.
