A Candida infection can cause all kinds of symptoms depending on where the infection has spread.
Yeast infections are the most common symptom of a Candida overgrowth. Yeast infections or thrush can affect the skin, mouth and any other part of the body, and can cause redness, burning, and itching. These obvious symptoms are not the only thing to look out for, since not everyone even develops skin problems with an overgrowth.
The other symptoms you can get from an internal overgrowth are gas and bloating which is attributed to the intestinal area and can lead to other problems like leaky gut syndrome, and can spor into the blood stream and travel around your body to any organ it likes.
You can expect to notice even more symptoms when the Candida changes form and spreads into the bloodstream. Symptoms such as trouble concentrating and feelings of anxiety, depressions and mood swings are common.
Other problems you may face are sensitivity to smoke, petrol, and perfume, and even develop new allergies.
You may come across the unfortunate symptom of unexplainable weight loss or gain, but the Candida diet will sort this symptom out and get your body back in shape.
Halitosis or bad breath can also be attributed to an internal infection or overgrowth of on the tongue, and can cause all kinds of problems both physically and mentally.
With so many warning signs, Candida can very rarely be accused without further tests from your doctor. However a simple home test can tell if you are likely to have Candida or not.
First thing when you get out of bed in the morning before you brush your teeth or eat, spit into glass of clear water, then leave it sit for up to half an hour. If within that time you notice the water turning cloudy, or the saliva developing strings or worse sinking straight to the bottom, chances are you have an overgrowth. You see healthy saliva should float on top of the water.
The spit test is good measure but it is not definite, a trip to the doctor is recommended. The other test you can do is the Candida questionnaire, since it is quite lengthy I will not include it here, but you can do a easy search on Google to find this test.
